Dustin Wilborn started this petition to Governor Bill Lee

Andrew Dove is the model of what a soldier should be. An inspiration to all have served past and present. We were promised a soldier shoutout by the 278th’s multimedia team and many have spoken about the impact he has had on both our professional and personal lives. No single person had done more for the 278th, nay, the guard than Andrew Dove.

Too often do we thank a soldier just because it’s something expected by society. Too often do we not give their sacrifices a second thought. We don’t stop to consider the pain and suffering they go through. The grit and determination it takes to don the uniform.

Today I present you with the opportunity to do more than just thank them for their service. Today I give you the opportunity to help a pillar of the 278th to get the recognition they deserve. A man who has helped us remember what it takes to be a soldier, what it takes to be an American.

We have all been inspired by Andrew. I have personally seen him suffer injuries that would knock most men out of the fight, in 100+ degree conditions, and continue mission ensuring the he success of not only the mission of the squadron but perhaps the guard itself. The definition of grit. The embodiment of determination. The soul of what it means to be a guardsmen.

Dozens of you have already commented on the difference Andrew Dove made in your lives but there’s still one thing left to do. Together we can get Dove his soldier shoutout. It is a small but potentially meaningful gesture that will take but a moment of our time.

Please like, share, and sign this petition. My hope is I can get the 278th and Governor Lee to give him what was promised and for all of us reading this to realize, we would do well to get a little Dove in us
