Why this petition matters

The United States of America. Land of the free. Where some states are progressing to focus on rehabilitation for drugs that lead to overdoses and the destruction of relationships families and homes. Tennessee is completely behind the curve."Marijuana charges do little to promote public health, and even less to promote public safety," -District Attorney Glenn Funk. These kinds of statements bring light as to how much law enforcement hurts individuals families and homes. More so than the plant itself. Moreover it hurts the minorities of this state more than any one else. Based on an official document provided by Approved by John Cooper himself, African Americans have been arrested 3.5 times more than Caucasian Americans THIS YEAR ALONE (https://ewscripps.brightspotcdn.com/1f/96/829ce78345f3b7cd232c50840538/arrests-for-pot-by-race.pdf This needs to change, THIS HAS TO CHANGE. As a fellow human being, as a fellow American, let us end this unfair treatment. Let’s put a stop to this injustice once and for all. Let’s make history, by doing what some states have made steps towards doing. Not only for Black people, but for every Tennessean.

.....one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
