Pollution is a huge problem in our environment. Many people do not recycle. Many people also just throw things on the ground when they are done with it. Pollution is affecting the entire planet, including humans, much more than most people realize. From the oceans, to the air, it is polluting the entire planet and harming animals, plants, and humans. There are currently 41,415 endangered plant and animal species, 16,306 of which are faced with extinction. More than 95 percent of the world's population is breathing unsafe air. Plastic does not break down. It is non-biodegradable. It just sits and never goes away. And it builds up and builds up, and now here we are in 2020, approximately 113 years of plastic use, in the midst of a climate crisis.

With deposits on containers such as plastic bottles, glass bottles, and aluminum cans, we can help to reduce the amount of pollution. Having a deposit of 10 to 15 cents will encourage people to recycle. And it is a very simple process! They just have to collect the cans and bottles, bring them back to the store next time they come to shop, or whenever they want and they will get 10 or 15 cents for every item!

10 states already have this system in place, including: California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Oregon, and Vermont.

Having lived in Michigan prior to moving to Tennessee, I have experience with this process and as mentioned it is super easy! The world is facing a crisis and this is just one small way we can help! And hopefully, we can eventually have the whole country using container deposits!
