Remove the confederate statues in Tennessee
This petition had 111 supporters
Treason and secession in the defense of slavery should not be celebrated.
These confederate statues represent a lost cause for immoral beliefs and weren’t erected until long after the civil war to demean and oppress the black family in the Jim Crowe Era.
“I think it wiser, moreover, not to keep open the sores of war but to follow the examples of those nations who endeavored to obliterate the marks of civil strife, to commit to oblivion the feelings engendered.”
-General Robert E. Lee
You simply cannot be a patriotic American and stand behind what the confederacy stood for because they fought against the United States to preserve these immoral beliefs.
