NYC Ticker Tape Parade for Shalane Flanagan, TCS NYC Marathon Winner!

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!

Shalane Flanagan won the TCS New York City Marathon yesterday, Sunday, Nov 5, the FIRST American woman to win the race in 40 years. She deserves a special honor from the City of New York - let's throw her a Ticker Tape Parade!

In doing so, we will continue to honor the humanity that Mayor De Blasio eloquently referenced in his remarks at the start of the New York City marathon yesterday. The beauty of our international city, the heart of our immigrant roots, the soul of our strength will get another chance to go on display in full force with an American athlete who did what no other female American runner has been able to do for decades.

Girls and women will have a chance to celebrate the athleticism of the long distance runner, the fortitude it takes to train effectively and stay motivated in the face of the competition. To live a healthy life, to endure the challenges of physical and mental preparation.

A Ticker Tape Parade for Shalane! Let's Do IT!
