Name a portion of Central Park for Detective Steven McDonald

Steven McDonald was a NYC police officer who was shot in the line of duty in Central Park on July 12, 1986. Despite being left paralyzed, he forgave the teenage assailant. Steven later worked tirelessly to teach about nonviolent conflict resolution, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
I am proud to have known him, albeit briefly, when I was in college. In the years since I watched his amazing journey and was shown life lessons about humanity and the human spirit that are simply boundless.
Steven died this year on January 10, 2017. He touched everyone with his powerful example. It is one which NYC should pay tribute as a reminder to be kind, to forgive, and to love. There could be no finer location for such a tribute than in Central Park.
Look at the smile on his face and the light in his eyes in this picture and you will see the Steven I knew.
Please support me by co-signing this petition to honor the message and legacy of Detective Steven McDonald in asking Mayor DeBlasio:
Please rename a portion of Central Park in honor of Detective Steven McDonald.
Please share. With everyone.
