Save Baby Feeding Support in the Highlands

My baby was born last year and I decided I would breastfeed. Naively I thought I would put him on the breast and he would just feed but he refused to latch. An Infant Feeding Support Worker visited us regularly, supporting us and referring us to the feeding clinic at Raigmore when we needed additional support. With their help, at 5 weeks, my baby finally latched and at 6 months is still breastfeeding. We also attend the breastfeeding support group at Hilton Community Centre and continue to get help and encouragement.

There's so much pressure on mums to breastfeed due to all the health benefits but breastfeeding can be hard and many mums struggle. Without the support at the hospital and at home I would have given up.

As of today Highland Council and NHS Highland still haven't confirmed funding for the Infant Feeding Support Services for 2018/19. This isn't about formula vs breastmilk, this is about choice and providing mums with the proper support to breastfeed if they choose.

Please sign this petition to ask the Highland Council and NHS Highland to continue to fund the service at the same level and to reinstate the regular feeding clinic at Raigmore so that all babies in the Highlands can benefit from breastfeeding. Thanks x
