Robert DeMarco started this petition to Big Bay Resort Association, Board of Directors

Friday Harbour Resort is positioned as a Four-Season Resort.  The current spring, fall and winter offerings are only a very limited number of outdoor activities. In the winter, many activities cannot fully be enjoyed in the absence of enough snowfall. The lack of an indoor pool, or a heated outdoor pool is a significant missed opportunity to the Resort living up to its Four Season value proposition and to compete with the best resorts in Canada, which also happen to be those that offer winter swimming opportunities, along with spa/sauna facilities.

Consequences of not having a 4-season pool include:

·       Potential purchasers not buying at Friday Harbour and buying elsewhere where 4-season pool opportunities are offered;

·       Less occupancy during the spring/fall/winter months, which also weakens the number of visitors to retail stores and restaurants;

·       Weakens the value proposition of Friday Harbour Resort as a Four-Season Resort and ultimately affects property values.

This need has been accentuated by the recent removal of the '300 Day’ rule, and by the pandemic itself, with many homeowners spending increased time at the Resort, instead of at their city homes.

Our ask is that the Friday Harbour Resort Association determine the costs associated with retrofitting or modifying the Lake Club pool to a year-round pool, in addition to assessing maintenance costs, and report back to the Resort Members in 6 months.

This is an issue of utmost importance to the majority of homeowners at Friday Harbour Resort.

In signing this petition, I support the motion on this topic that was recently submitted to the RA, and that this issue be added to the agenda of the upcoming AGM in November 2020.

Note - Owners must include their civic address (street address and unit number) for their signature to 'count'.
