Tennessee has one of the highest rates in the country for substance abuse and plays a huge role in the opioid epidemic. The number of children in Tennessee that are living in foster care, adoption or with family is at overwhelming numbers. There are many issues at hand regarding this issue. Many young parents are being taken advantage of by the Department of Child Services. Their case loads are exceeding the ability to be taken seriously. Children are being taken from struggling parents without proper protocols in place and rights are being terminated without legal assistance.

Drug and alcohol testing should be absolutely critical in the signing of any legal documents or making any life altering decisions.
