Betty White was a National Treasure, an icon and a wonderful person. Not only was she a pioneer in television entertainment, with a career that spanned 70 years, she served the country during WWII, was a strong advocate for equality and a tireless champion animal/wildlife welfare & conservation. In her near 100 years of life, Betty received numerous awards from Emmys to SAGs to Lifetime Achievement awards, but she never was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This is a wrong that should be righted, given all that she did to not only entertain, but to better the lives of others. Not only was Betty White a great citizen of the United State, but a wonderful human being and the world was a better place for her in it. It's time she be recognized at the highest level.
