In recent years we marched for better pay and conditions for all childcare staff and this was greeted with the usual empty promises from government.
We have always been overworked and underpaid. The new core funding does nothing to improve conditions for staff and is more insulting than had they just left the funding as is.

There are multiple ecce classes going into schools across Ireland without so much as a word of warning that this impacts a massive number of services which are already struggling. The insurance for childcare has sky rocketed. People are either now closing their businesses or losing children to schools. After being treated so poorly for so long in an under appreciated sector this to me is the final nail in the coffin. This is with the backdrop of parents still not being able to afford childcare. With the core funding promising to make childcare as affordable as September 2021…. When nobody could afford it anyway.  

I hope you can all support this petition and spread it far and wide. I doubt it’ll make any shred of difference but we can only hope for the best!
