Newark is a town which is growing in size by the day, with new builds going up across town making the demand on health services much greater. Currently maternity services at Newark Hospital are limited - scans and consultations are carried out 2 days a week - with many women needing to travel to Kings Mill or Nottingham for antenatal care, often several times a weeks (3 times a week for me and alone due to the amount of time it took meaning my partner could not always be out of work for so long). This isn't good enough. We deserve and need better than this.

Paediatric care is worse, other than The Bramley unit running specific consultant and dietician clinics there is no paediatric care. Urgent Care can't/don't want to see children or babies, and GPs often direct to A&E at Kings Mill which just is not practical for many. Especially if admission is require and it's the middle of the night etc

Newark desperately needs funding for better maternity care and a proper, accessible paediatric service for emergencies.

Please help by getting as much support behind this petition as we can so this has to be taken seriously and considered. We have to make a change!
