Red River College Students in the Business Administration Program are very frustrated with the fact that the last and final term of our 2-year program has been changed to both online and in-person lectures. It is making it difficult for the students who do not live in Winnipeg and will have to commute to and from which could take up to 4 hours of our day when we could be putting those hours towards study. Our only other option would be to rent a place for the remainder 4 months of our program and since the Winter 2022 schedule was just released November 8th it does not give us a lot of time to make these big changes causing these times to be very stressful for us when we should be focusing on our courses. A lot of rental/ lease agreements you must sign and commit to for a year could make this a difficult decision for a lot of students. Not only that but the students who work outside of attending school to be able to afford their education are now affected tremendously as new course delivery program makes it impossible for them to have the opportunity to be able to work and therefore they are faced with the difficult decision on if they can afford to stay in school without an income. Making the change to an online learning delivery when Covid-19 first happened was a challenge for all students and staff. Over the last year and a half, we have all become accustomed to the changes and have changed our routines for us to be successful in our studies. Now, being asked to change back into in-person delivery we are worried that it could affect our mental health the same way. This change is detrimental to our mental health as well as our academic learning as we are afraid of the challenges we will face by having to quickly switch to in-person learning.
