You don’t Need to know started this petition to Bethel Tate high school

Senior year is meant for fun. Seniors in Bethel-Tate only have to have 2 final year classes; English and Mathematics. The high school is telling the seniors rather than allowing us to pick a class we want to take they are telling us to pick 5 electives which quite a few of us don’t need. We had 2 or 3 freshman year, 2 or 3 sophomore year, 2 or 3 this year. What’s the point of making us take 5 more elective classes when we don’t need the elective credits? This will give the senior class more time to work, more time to fill out college applications, go on college visits, and figure out what they want to do in their lives at that moment. Adding more stress onto seniors who already are stressed out enough is not worth the mental strain it places on them. Some of the senior class is athletes. Soccer players, basketball players, football players, wrestlers, academic team members, bowling members, marching band members, cheerleaders, etc. These kids have jobs, on top of school, on top of athletics as well. Putting kids into a position where they cannot focus on themselves more than their school work is wrong on multiple levels. There is a rule set in place by the schools principal saying that College Credit Plus kids must leave campus after their classes are done, why does that only apply to these specific kids? Why can’t this apply to all of the kids who have their core credit classes and the kids who don’t need to be there for more than 4 or 5 classes. Senior privileged allows us to come in after first bell or leave after 6th bell. That doesn’t always help any of us, many of us are there with classes we don’t need to be taking to graduate or walk across that stage to get our diploma. You can help change the fact that we will have to take 5 classes we don’t need to take by signing this petition to help show that there’s power in numbers. And that the students have a voice within their school board and their education.
