Why this petition matters

Started by Brad Koltz

Bethel has a vibrant business community, and while shop owners do their best to keep the sidewalk clear after snow and ice storms, the snow bank piles at the curb created by plows block crosswalks and walk ways and force people to walk for long stretches in the road to find a safe way to access the sidewalk.

Before anyone gets run down or injured climbing a snow and ice bank, we urge the Town to clear the snow away from the crosswalks and sidewalks after each storm, as it used to do, so that our seniors, children, handicapped residents and shoppers can safely get across the road and from their cars to shops and restaurants in town.

We also urge the Town to put down salt or sand in public walkways not in front of a specific store, such as by the corner of Depot Square and Greenwood Avenue.

These photos were taken 4 days after the storm that created these snowbanks.
