Reveal the algorithm for picking Laurier's ICE week teams
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
As ICE week for summer 2017 approaches at Wilfrid Laurier University, the inevitable anxiousness over who will be on which team only grows. The school always says that teams are created "by random selection", but numerous conspiracy theories exist about whether or not this is true.
Additionally, what is considered "random"? Does this mean that everyone in their 3B term is just as likely to be on another person's team? Is there a male/female target ratio? Is there targeting based on GPA? Are there rules about not having a team all from the same core?
We think the opaque nature of the team selection is very concerning, given that ICE makes up a large part of our marks for three classes this term and the school places such emphasis on it.
We believe that WLU should officially disclose what algorithm is used for picking teams "randomly".
