Make All Shelters In California To Be No-Kill Shelters

In California, more than 227,000 animals have been saved due to rescue shelters. However, there are still about 22,000 animals being put down for many reasons, ranging from medical conditions to creating more space in shelters for other animals. My partner and I are students attending Vaughn International Studies Academy and we feel as if it is time to finally put an end to shelters that kill their animals. Animal shelters should only resort to euthanizing an animal when they are no longer treatable and are suffering.
Because these animals are being killed for the lack of space in shelters, we need to create more shelters so that there is enough space for animals to be safe. Shelters are supposed to be a temporary place for animals to stay at and be cared for until they are adopted. The word SHELTER means to have a place giving temporary protection, but by letting shelters kill the animals, we are not sticking to what we should be doing. By signing this petition, together we can change all shelters in California to become no-kill shelters and to save the lives of thousands of animals.
In the United States alone, 2.7 million dogs and cats are being put down each year. That is 230,000 animals a month. 9,000 everyday. 150 an hour. We can decrease the rate of these killings by changing shelters into no-kill shelters all over California.
There are plenty of lovable animals waiting to be adopted at the shelters, waiting for the chance of being at home. Instead of buying somewhere else, consider going to a shelter to adopt one of these animals. You can really make a difference and an impact in their lives.
By signing this petition, together we can change all shelters in California to become no-kill shelters and to save the lives of thousands of animals.
