The iconic swing chair at The Southern Hotel Berry (formerly known as The Great Southern) has been taken down from where it has hung for the past 30 years and the locals are not happy about it. We have all got a story to tell about a time we have sat on that seat and watched the world pass us by…..a lazy Sunday with friends, a late Friday or Saturday night with random strangers or a quiet afternoon with a significant other. It has been a VIP lounge of sorts, first in best dressed, a go to destination for so many on any given day of the week and is something that will be sorely missed by all in the town and visitors that come to enjoy time here. If that swing chair could talk…. We are wanting to gather as many signatures as possible to support our campaign to bring back the swing chair and have it put back in its rightful place at the front of the pub for everyone to enjoy once again. Change is good….but this one is not one that any of the locals are ready to accept!
