As BIPOC and their allies, we believe that Berry College must take an active stance against the ignorance and lack of education present within the entirety of our community concerning implicit/explicit racism, bias, and racial prejudices. We demand that the institution hire a Chief Diversity Officer to work directly with the administration to combat these issues. The search committee, which must include students, needs to be created by October 23rd, with biweekly updates sent out to students throughout the entire hiring process, with the Officer needing to be hired by the beginning of the spring semester. Racial reconciliation on this campus begins now.
