Sanders For President 2016 Supporters Ask Sanders to Support Justice in Palestine

Dear. Sen. Bernie Sanders,
We are writing as supporters of your 2016 bid for President who are deeply dismayed by your lack of support for Palestinian rights. You recently signed onto a letter condemning the United Nation's supposedly unfair treatment of Israel and attacking the use of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel Until it Complies with International Law and Universal Principles of Human Rights.
Israel has been treated unfairly; it has long been protected at the United Nations Security Council by the US's veto while receiving billions of dollars in US military aid in spite of its continued deprivation of Palestinian human rights.
While we recognize that every member of the US Senate signed this absurd letter to the United Nations, as a self-proclaimed democratic socialist you have a special responsibility to stand in solidarity with the the struggle of the oppressed for liberation.
The BDS call stems directly from Palestine civil society. It asks that people of conscience act where governments and intergovernmental organization have failed and hold Israel accountable for subjecting the Palestinian people to decades of colonialism and apartheid.
Specifically, the Palestinian people ask that:
"non-violent punitive measures should be maintained until Israel meets its obligation to recognize the Palestinian people's inalienable right to self-determination and fully complies with the precepts of international law by:
1. Ending its occupation and colonization of all Arab lands and dismantling the Wall
2. Recognizing the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality; and
3. Respecting, protecting and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in UN resolution 194."
These three demands are just and future progress in the Middle East must take them as their starting premise. We recongize that during your 2016 Presidential Campaign and at other points during your career you spoke out partially in favor of Palestinian human rights. However, your decision to sign onto to the recent Senate letter to the United Nations shows that you have not gone far enough in supporting basic human rights.
We supported your 2016 Presidential campaign.
We also believe it is necessary to stand with the oppressed, not the oppressor.
We urge you to do the same.
