This new proposed tax for the sales of large quantities of alcohol will help our community by providing adequate mental health, addiction services and treatment facilities across Oregon. We are proposing a 5% tax on the sales of large quantities of alcohol sold and be set aside for the services listed above, this will help free up the 4.8 billion dollars Oregon spends every year on alcohol related issues. This is a preventative measure. The tax on the alcohol sales from bigger corporations cannot be used for anything else but what is stated above. Currently there is only one facility for patient treatment for Alcoholism. This will not only help create jobs in Oregon but safe and effective treatment for alcoholics.
