Bernie, Keep the $15 Federal Minimum Wage in the Covid-19 Relief Bill!

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

We the undersigned petition Bernie Sanders to forward the $1.9 Trillion Covid-19 relief bill out of the Budget Committee without removing the $15 Federal Minimum Wage provision from the legislation. We support this action because we understand that all other partial measures and promises will not have any substantial effect on moving the working class out of poverty and toward a living wage.

Income inequality is the worst it has ever been in our United States, the passage of this critically important measure is socio-economic justice now!

The $15 Min is way overdue and would bring about the following:

  • "Gradually raising the federal minimum wage to $15 by 2025 would lift pay for nearly 32 million workers—21% of the U.S. workforce."
  • "A majority (59%) of workers whose total family income is below the poverty line would receive a pay increase if the minimum wage were raised to $15 by 2025."
  • "A $15 minimum wage by 2025 would generate $107 billion in higher wages for workers" every year and would also benefit communities across the country, because a majority of those wages will be spent in those communities bringing greater business activity and Job growth, it acts as an economic stimulus with a multiplier effect.
  • A majority of those that would benefit are Essential and Front Line workers.
  • "Nearly one-third (31%) of African Americans and one-quarter (26%) of Latinos would get a raise if the federal minimum wage were increased to $15."
  • "Almost one in four (23%) of those who would benefit is a Black or Latina woman."

We the undersigned support Chairman of the Budget Committee, Sen. Bernie Sanders, keeping the provisions that raise the Federal Minimum Wage to $15 in the 2021 Covid-19 relief bill.
