Modify BNSF attendance policy to fit Warren Buffet’s statements on self care
"You only get one mind and one body. And it's got to last a lifetime. But if you don't take care of that mind and that body, they'll be a wreck 40 years later...it's what you do right now, today, that determines how your mind and body will operate 10, 20, and 30 years from now." -Warren Buffett
“If you’re in the luckiest 1% of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99%.”-Warren Buffett
Train crews face increasingly unpredictable schedules and little time for their own health. BNSF’s new Hi-Viz attendance policy directly impacts their ability to take care of themselves and their families.
Petition to modify the existing policy by:
-Changing language to ensure that a 24 hour period spent away from home in a hotel does not constitute a day of rest OR grant employee 2 pts after 24 hours spent in hotel.
-Automatically grant employees a set number of agreed upon points on the 1st day of each calendar month.
-Allow employees to submit documentation from a doctor to remove layoffs from their record.
-Do not count FMLA or UNB layoffs against the “good attendance credit” period.
-Change “good attendance credit” from 4 pts after 14 days to 3 points after 7 days.
-Allow employees to accrue up to 45 pts.
