Amanda Shoemaker started this petition to Bentley University

2020 has been a year of unprecedented changes, and Bentley University students have had their lives uprooted by the Coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe. While fearing for their safety, missing their friends, and facing incredible challenges, these students have looked forward to the day that Bentley would make a decision on their return for fall classes. Yet, Bentley's proposal on June 30th created far more questions than it answered, and it put extreme pressure on thousands of students to make an almost immediate decision without being fully informed.

The plan of action called for students' decisions on whether to accept Bentley University housing by July 8th, while simultaneously informing students that it would be up to individual professors which classes would be held online or in-person. Thus, Bentley students have been put in the perplexing position of deciding whether to pay thousands of dollars for on-campus housing without knowing which or how many of their classes will be online.

The Bentley community is collectively dedicated to creating a safer campus this fall, but there is no excuse for requiring students to make an important financial decision with minimal information. The school should either push back the housing deadline, or publish which professors plan to teach online and which professors plan to teach in the classroom so that students can make a more informed decision about whether they need on-campus housing. Sign this petition to show Bentley University that we stand united on this issue!
