This is a public statement in support of the frontline workers and healthcare workers doing their best to maintain services and fight against the pandemic. This is a public statement in support of students and school staff who have endured a very challenging year, with more challenges to come. To the seniors who have been isolated, to the custodial staff who work with great diligence to keep our public spaces safe; to the retail workers who face the belligerence of frustrated people who lash out at any easy target; to the grocery store staff who continue to navigate supply chain and staffing hurdles to keep the shelves stocked; to the business owners who are just hanging on, waiting to re-open; to those who practice a faith, and have made great efforts to learn how to worship in different ways to maintain the safety of their congregants; to the community groups who have hit a year-long (and counting) pause in their activities; to everyone who has paid a price due to COVID-19: keep going, we are almost there. We can do this together.

To those of you who can't be bothered to wear a mask. To those of you organizing so-called "Freedom" Rallies, who yell anti-mask lies and tell us to ignore the medical data. To those of you who use this as an opportunity to display your abhorrent conspiracy views and racist ignorance: the rallies are not welcome here.

To the elected representatives that betray us with their holiday traveling, who betray us with their failure to uphold the trust of their office: please stop. This is shameful, and history will not be kind to you. And know this: we will remember your actions and words at the next election.

This public statement is signed by your friends, neighbours, family members.
