Preserve Public Facilities Designation at Troy Field

This petition had 1,227 supporters

As you may or may not be aware, this field has been sold for private condo development.  These condos will be used primarily for high-end vacation rentals.   Other than Drake Park, this is one of the only public gathering places downtown.

However, for this project to move forward, city council must first vote to approve the removal of the Public Facility Designation that this space has always been preserved under.  This vote will occur soon and now is the opportunity to voice any opposition the public may have to this action.  Although many people have expressed strong opinions opposing this, as of now, the planning department has only received a handful of letters asking to preserve the space’s current zoning.

The time to act is now.  This is a call to action.  Visit our Facebook page at

to find more information and a downloadable letter that you can deliver or mail to planners.

Thanks and your grandchildren thank you too!

Hello City Council,

The purpose of this letter is to voice opposition to the removal of the current public facilities designation at Troy Field, and therefore preserve one of the few public gathering spaces in downtown Bend. Parks and public spaces are vital to the development and preservation of a healthy community.

Please consider my opinion as you vote on this measure.
