Why this petition matters

Started by Julian Harrison

Due to the increase in heavy vehicle traffic and lack of upkeep of eroding asphalt, there is an urgent need to improve Bena-Kongwak Road for drivers, cyclists and local pedestrians.

Currently the safety of the very windy Bena-Kongwak Road is at an all time low, with multiple blind spots around corners of single-laned asphalt road. This coupled with an absence of speed signs and lack of warning signs makes for incredibly dangerous driving conditions. You never know what is just around the corner... another vehicle speeding in the middle of the road?

We have created this petition to help raise awareness about the unessesarily unsafe conditions of our road, which has been the location of serious accidents. We would like to prevent more accidents from occuring by making this road safer for all, both during the wet and slippery winter months as well as the sunny and busy summer months.

South Gippsland Council, our local Mayor and local MP have been notified as well as the local newspaper. Most importantly local residents have voiced their concerns via social media.

Through your support and the collective support of the local and wider community of South Gippsland, we can bring about change to this negelected piece of country motorway.
