Make a change, make it fair. Support indigenous recognition in our constitution
This petition had 13 supporters
Some sections of our constitution do not allow for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to be treated fairly.
We need a referendum that will change the course of the nation’s history.
The changes that need to be made in the constitution are:
- Removing section 25, which allows people to be disqualified on the basis of race
- Removing section 51 part xxvi, which allows the government to make laws about race
- Adding an additional section with a new policy to prevent re-instating racism of any kind.
Although we have changed our racist ways over the years, we have not changed our racist constitution since 1901. It is time that we took a stand about that as a nation. Amending our constitution will give us the opportunity to apologise for previous wrongs by showing action on the issue and make it right for the future.
Please take a stand to make a change and make it fair by signing this petition.
