Universal: Please Consider 'The Wizard: 30th Anniversary Ed.' or License to Shout! Factory

The Wizard, Todd Holland's 1989 video game road trip adventure film starring Fred Savage, Luke Edwards, Jenny Lewis, Christian Slater, Beau Bridges, and Will Seltzer will be celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2019 and while Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has released the film on various formats over the years, they have yet to release the hour of deleted scenes, score/soundtrack, or give the film the same attention many other films receive. Every home media release of The Wizard has been a bare bones, 'just-the-movie' release.

Retro gamers, fans of the film, and director Todd Holland, kindly request that Universal Pictures Home Entertainment consider releasing a special 30th Anniversary edition in 2019 with his involvement or open the film up for licensing so that Shout! Factory may do so. Shout! Factory has responded to fans informing us that the film is not currently available to license.

With no way of communicating fan support on the Universal Pictures Home Media website (uphe.com) and our attempts at attracting the attention of Universal Pictures via their official Twitter accounts (@UniversalPics & @UniversalEnt) unacknowledged, we hope this petition can gain enough support to attract the attention of someone at Universal Pictures Home Entertainment for a response.

Fans feel a proper, 30th Anniversary celebratory release, complete with the deleted scenes and Todd Holland's involvement by either Universal Pictures Home Entertainment or Shout! Factory, would be a great way to finally give this cult classic retro gaming movie the be-all, end-all treatment it deserves.

Nick Jenkins (creator of this petition) or Todd Holland can be reached on Twitter with any questions (@NicktendoX & @ToddHolland3).

Thank you to everyone reading for your support.
