Responsible dog owners want a designated off-leash dog beach in Los Angeles, CA.

The responsible dog owners of Los Angeles want an off-leash dog beach where their pups can enjoy the surf and sand legally. Dogs are a part of our family and almost every household here in Los Angeles has a furry companion. Therefore, like in many places around the country and in California, the Los Angeles community would like to have a dog beach where we can freely enjoy a section of the beach with our dogs.
Our proposed section of the shoreline is Playa Del Rey Beach in Playa Del Rey, CA. The existing Marina Del Rey jetty provides a natural barrier and the strand bike path separates the shoreline from other recreational spaces. The residents of this area are enthusiastic about the potential for a dog beach. We are open to other possible locations.
We would definitely have rules/laws, available waste disposal stations, and scheduled daily clean ups to ensure that allowing dogs would not create hazardous or unsanitary conditions. The dog would provide revenue to the city via parking fees and requiring that all dogs visiting the beach need to be licensed in the City of Los Angeles.
We believe if we can show community support, we have a better chance of success.
