Ask the City of Bemidji to divest from Wells Fargo and bank local

Wells Fargo is one of the top six investors in the Dakota Access Pipeline. The building of this pipeline is not only a terrible thing for the environment by continuing our reliance on fossil fuels and delaying our investment in sustainable energy sources, it is also running roughshod over the rights and sovereignty of Indigenous people in the U.S.
We would like the City of Bemidji to divest from Wells Fargo and bank local because:
1) we want to support a shift toward a renewable energy future instead of continuing down the destructive path of fossil fuels;
2) we want the city to show support and respect for Indigenous rights and soveriegnty, especially due to our large Native American population in the area; and,
3) we believe that banking local helps local business and the local economy.
