Belmont AMTA for Students Conference Attendance Petition

We, the students of the Belmont University School of Music, petition the Belmont CVPA administration to provide the Music Therapy majors excused absence from the primary Christmas at Belmont recording to take place on November 17 and 18, 2017, during the time that the American Music Therapy Association National Conference occurs (November 16 – November 19, 2017).
This event is fundamental in the developing professional careers of our Music Therapy Students, including education on modern research in the field, exhibits of technology and equipment to be used in practice and an internship fair in which students may gain rapport and learn about opportunities for the continuing of their career during their mandatory 6-month internship.
It would be a disservice for Belmont University to prohibit Music Therapy students from involvement in National Conference, one that would hinder their education as students and their development as young professionals.
We would highly appreciate your consideration in excusing us from this weekend of filming so that we could attend Conference. With the Music Therapy students absent, the ensembles participating in filming for Christmas at Belmont would still have ample students present to take part in filming.
Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to hearing your decision!
