Belmont's First All-Female Showcase

Belmont's First All-Female Showcase
For the past 3 months, we (4 Belmont students) have researched the lack of representation for females in the music industry, specifically at showcases and festivals. We found that it's much more common for female artists to be lacking in performance lineups, including those that occur right here on Belmont's campus. The eye opening moment for us, as students, was this year's Battle of the Belmont Bands showcase when there were no female bands.
After much research, we concluded that since 2015, Belmont has had a variety of showcases that have been comprised of 126 acts overall. Out of those 126 acts, there were only 57 that were female-led or had female representation. This is coming from a university who's enrollment has been the majority women since 2012.
So, we are asking you to help us get Belmont's showcase committee's attention and support in creating an all-female showcase during Women's History Month in order to promote/represent women in the music industry! Please sign and help spread the message and once this event is up and running make sure you come on out and show your support for all the amazingly talented women here at Belmont! Let's celebrate Women's History Month by making history with Belmont's first ever all-female showcase!
