Taylor Smith started this petition to Bellows Falls Village of Trustees

As members of the community, we are making this petition to save Caesar’s job as the K-9 unit of the Bellows Falls Police Department.

Caesar has been a part of this community for about 6 years now and has had a great impact on the community and in the officers lives. Caesars was donated to the Bellows Falls Police Department from the Vermont Canine Association and was assigned to officer Mario Checchi, who went through 6 months of training with Caesar in 2014. To officer checci he is more than just a k9, he is his partner, his family. He has assisted in more drug busts with officer Checchi than anyone can count.

Terminating him as an officer of the BFPD will not only impact officer Checchi and the other officers, but it will also impact the community.

It is up to us to help and save this k9s job and to keep him doing what he loves to do and what he is good at. Not only will the department lose an asset but an officer will lose his partner.

Officer Checchi feeds and takes care of Caesar in his own home. And has said in articles that “I really couldn’t ask for a better partner” and that “he is very excited to do his job.” They are one in the same.

Caesar has assisted in finding counterfeit money, thousands of bags of heroin and a countless amount of illegal drugs. Losing him in the community will only make the drug problem worse. Without Caesar, it leaves more of an opportunity for young adults to get drugs in their hands, along with more drug trafficking through the area.
