The proposed vehicle ingress/egress in the plat-design for the Brecken Place Townhomes development will negatively impact everyone that lives along S. Chestnut St. from e. Orchard St. to E. Evergreen St. The development address is stated to be located at Evergreen Street East and Meridian Street/CSAH 3 in Belle Plaine. However, ALL traffic into and out of the development is platted to use E. Orchard Street and S. Chestnut Street to gain entry. During construction, heavy equipment and construction materials will have to be brought through this 2-block length of residential area. Once completed, this design will add approximately eighty (80) additional vehicles daily to an already busy corridor.

In addition to vehicle traffic, walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and dog walkers heavily use this section of S. Chestnut Street. They must walk on the road because S. Chestnut St. does not have sidewalks along it. Many of the homes along S. Chestnut St. have small children that would be susceptible to increased danger due to the increased traffic. Additionally, except during maintenance or snow emergency, many residents park their vehicles on the street thereby creating multiple areas of restricted width roadway thereby increasing the danger to pedestrians and vehicles even more.

We propose the entrance/exit for the Brecken Place Townhomes be changed to intersect with Meridian Street/CSAH 3. It is a much safer option for everyone involved.
