By Love Is Not Tourism Belgium

People are suffering from being unable to be there to support their partner during this stressful and difficult time - which also has a lot of psychological and emotional impact. At the end of the day,  we just want to come home to our partner, to kiss them and hug them like every other couple can do. Being with your partner is essential during a pandemic.

We are happy our voices were heard on the last Security Council, but disappointed in the very strict requirements that not a lot of couples can meet. While some other countries have already shown it is possible to reunite loved ones in a humane way. This petition hopes to replicate the success couples in Denmark found after they petitioned their government officials and shared their stories through social media.

We do not want to spread COVID-19. We are not tourists. We are not looking for a holiday or vacation, we just want to be together with our loved one. We are willing to pay for COVID-19 tests, we are willing to quarantine 14 days. We will follow all safety requirements to protect our country from the spread of COVID-19.

If a relationship can withstand the separation of the last 6 months, isn’t that proof of sustainability? Help us. Help us find a solution that works for all of us.
