Build a bodyweight/street workout park in the centre of Belfast!

This petition had 236 supporters

This petition is to let the local council know that there is a growing calisthenics and body-weight training scene here in Northern Ireland (and in the ROI), that the philosophy behind physical training is reaching out once more beyond Nautilus machines and indoor facilities, and that we should be spending more time in the fresh air, moving our body as well as moving big objects, for life-long health and well-being.  We're convinced that not only will veteran practitioners use the park, but it will invite a new crowd and passers-by to take up this style of fitness if the facility is available to them.

Ormeau Park, the intended location for the build, is central to all, and with the possibility of a bridge being built from the Gasworks across to the Ormeau embankment, it will be accessible to nearly everyone from all angles of Belfast.

A brief on the project with goals can be found here:

There has been a proposal in the works for the last 2 years, but it is currently in limbo with no funding being set aside at present.  Let's show the council it's worth their time and investment to build it sooner rather than later and get Belfast active again!  Spread the petition and sign your name up!
