Mrs. Ramirez, one of many of Belen Jesuit’s most highly-qualified, inspirational, loving, and sympathetic educators is currently experiencing an unfounded injustice. This past week, a student accused her of hazing him in front of his entire class, as reported by CBS. What CBS failed to report is the student’s blatant disrespectful, sexist, inappropriate comments made toward Mrs. Ramirez just a few weeks ago. As a result of his comments, specifically telling Mrs. Ramirez that his favorite pastry is “p—-y”, the student was suspended from school. This week, the student failed to bring in his allotted water donation for Belen’s annual “Tombola” festival and Mrs. Ramirez reprimanded him as every student is expected to pull his own weight for the success of the annual festival. In frustration and because of the warranted suspension and ensuing repriman, the student told his parents he was hazed by Mrs Ramirez in front of his entire class, initiating a school-wide investigation by the Miami-Dade Police Department. As a result of the investigation, Mrs. Ramirez was suspended from earning her livelihood at Belen and doing what she loves most: educating and inspiring young men on a daily basis. We speak on behalf of the entire Belen Jesuit community when we say that Mrs. Ramirez is one of the best things that has happened to this great institution. This student’s parents have fed and promoted this injustice in a manner that can change Mrs. Ramirez’ life for the worst. Please support this movement to clear the air on the type of person Mrs. Cristina Ramirez is: a loving and caring educator and friend.
