Behavioral issue or Education issue? Language Immersion schools... buyer beware.

Families and students at language immersion schools have faced many academic challenges. Frequently children are labeled as a behavioral problem and the educational problem is overlooked. Language Immersion children are frequently scoring lower on exams compared to other children their age.
To overcome many of the challenges I propose the following changes.
- Prior to entering a language immersion program, families should be informed that language immersion is not an optimal environment for all children.
- Families are educated about strengths, qualities and talents that make children more successful in a language immersion school. Testing offered before entering school.
- Annual testing completed near the end of the school year to evaluate academic placement. At a minimum, an evaluation of reading and writing should be performed.
- Summer school should be offered if testing determines that a child is below grade level in any subject area.
