As a community, we are starting this petition on the behalf of Karen Ramirez.

On Saturday, July 30, 2022, Karen Ramirez was assaulted by another student at Aveda Arts Institute Houston. Karen was on her lunch break after a long day with guests, purchasing a snack from the vending machine when she was approached by another student, Andrea Morales, and was attacked from behind. This situation has lead our friend, Karen Ramirez to be expelled from the institute while the status for the other student unknown.

Karen has proven to be a woman of morals and ethics for the time that we have known her. In general, Karen Ramirez is known for being a dedicated wife and mother of three children. As a respectable and nurturing person amongst her peers at Aveda Institute, the assault against Karen Ramirez by Andrea Morales was unexpected and shocking.

Karen has taken her education at Aveda with qualities of honesty and moral uprightness. Her hard work ethic shows through her guests that enjoy their time with her and request future services with Karen. As personal friends of Karen, she has expressed her feelings of her expulsion from Aveda. This has severely been overwhelming for her and her family. 

At one point, Karen wanted to drop out at one thousand hours due to financial difficulties. Her youngest, two years of age, will be starting  school soon. Karen’s decision was purely made in order to successfully pass her state exams and work as soon as possible within a salon. Though, her mind was changed to stay and complete her fifteen hundred hours upon her meeting with Shannon Arnold and Paige Allier, director and assistant director of Aveda Houston.

Karen Ramirez has thus far shown determination to move past her trauma by continuing to see her therapist. It is our hope, this petition  regarding Karen Ramirez and her case, will act as a positive and contributing factor in this matter.
