Ben Burgess started this petition to Bega valley shire council

During the summer of 2012 while walking to my bus stop at Beauty Point, Wallaga lake, i spotted an orangutan swinging through the eucalyptus trees above the bus stop. As i was the only one there at the time no one else saw the orangutan. Since this time in year 10 i have been telling people i saw the orangutan at the bus stop but no one believed me. I have now decided, almost 8 years later to prove the existence of this majestic beast. The lifespan of the standard orangutan is 35-45 years of age and based on the appearance of the one i saw at the bus stop it was 5-10 years of age. This mean the one i saw is still alive and no more than 18 years of age according to my estimates.

The aims of this petition are to:

  1. Raise awareness of the orangutan that i KNOW is somewhere in beauty point.
  2. Recruit members of the community who want to find the orangutan and possibly capture it to prove my point to everyone at school.
  3. Encourage the Bega valley shire council to capture the orangutan and provide resources for the project.
  4. To fund and hire an expert in orangutans from south america to come and assist us in the capturing of the beast.
  5. To provide me with a reward in the form of either cash and/or a medal or a statue at the pub as a monument to my achievement.
