The City of Carthage in Leake County approved Beer and Wine Sales within the City Limits however the County has rejected the sale of Beer and Wine. This is a financial hindrance for all business that operate and need the sale of Beer and Wine to boost their sales outside the City Limits. Most businesses that previously operated as a Convenience Store in the County outside the City Limits are now closed. The buildings are there but the business owners were forced to close due to the lack of revenue. Beer and Wine are major revenue boosters for Convenience Stores. The sale of Beer and Wine only in the City Limits must change and the County Supervisors have the power to make that change. If we win this petition those stores could re-open creating new business and jobs in the County. This would also eliminate having to drive into the City Limits to purchase convenience items as well. We will be able to do business with our local stores in the County. The sale of Beer and Wine will also increase the taxes paid to the County which should result in faster highway repairs and better service for our coverts and other road repairs that are greatly needed.
