We did it!
This is a first historic breakthrough for our movement. For the first time ever, G7 leaders have collectively committed to action to end the global scourge of childhood sexual violence.
The G7 Final Communique issued today states:
The pandemic, the war against Ukraine and further international conflicts, including in Afghanistan, have exacerbated the threat of trafficking in human beings, aimed at sexual and labour exploitation and abuse, particularly of children and women. We commit to step up our fight against trafficking in human beings and our efforts to prevent and combat child sexual abuse and exploitation globally, both online and offline. We ask our Interior Ministers to take forward the implementation of the Action plan to combat Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse from September 2021.
This is huge. But, we’re not stopping here.
Survivors and our allies in the G7 countries and around the world want our leaders to know that words aren’t enough. We need bold action now. Starting in the G7 countries, at the meeting of G7 Interior Ministers in October, and then at the 2023 G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan.
On behalf of the Brave Movement and the 8 other survivors who helped to launch this petition, we want to say a huge thank you for your continued support over the last few months. We hope that you will continue to share and amplify the petition and help us keep the pressure on the G7 ahead of the next G7 meeting in October.
