Keep the "Bears" name in Beacon Youth Football

Vernon R. Way dedicated his life to establishing a successful Youth Football program through Pop Warner in Beacon, NY.

He was one of the main contributors of his time and finances to the program. He was instrumental in building the Pop Warner field, clubhouse, lighting, and organization as a whole. When the program condensed down to one team name, he chose to name the group the “Beacon Bears". They still play under this name today.

Members of the High School Athletic Department and some of the current board members would like to rebrand the youth organization to the "Beacon Bulldogs" to coincide with the High School team.

To honor Vernon R. Way’s dedication, loyalty and hard work, we believe the “Bears” name should continue to be proudly worn by our young football players for years to come.
