Beacon City School District Extracurricular Activity Access for Homeschooled Students

According to Policy #1741 Homeschooled students in Beacon City School District do not have access to extracurricular activities including clubs and intramural sports nor may they borrow instructional materials from the district.
Our school district pays to bus students to private schools. The district also allows private school students to borrow instructional materials.
Beacon Homeschoolers are community members. We pay school taxes like everyone else. We are few in number (less than 1% of the total population of school aged students in grades K-12) and would not negatively impact resources or displace enrolled students from positions in clubs and on teams. It is unfair to exclude homeschooled students from activities with their enrolled school peers. We recommend that the board vote to reverse this policy.
