Stop Proposed Building in the Side Chapel of York St. John University.

Recently, I have been informed that there are plans to build meeting rooms within the side chapel of St.Constantine the Great at York St. John University. To do so would make the space unusable to students on both Music and Music Production courses who frequently use this section of the chapel to practice, perform and record in. Any changes made to this space will impact on their success as students which as course representative I find unacceptable.
I am starting this petition from the perspective of someone who has taken advantage of this facility for the last two years and realised its value, not only to students but also to the York music community.
The petition will be presented to the university in an attempt to have the current plans and proposals reconsidered.
We the undersigned would like to register our concerns to the university over the plans and proposals to convert the interior of the Campus chapel into meeting spaces which would render the chapel unsuitable for recording and performance purposes. We would like the university to consider their proposals on the grounds that it would affect the ability of current and future music and music production students to practice their arts as there will be no suitable alternative location.
Please find the building proposal below.
