Ian Lawrence started this petition to Head of BCP COUNCIL PLANNING DEPT (Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council,) and

This BCP Policy is designed for Town Centres where new builds no longer need parking spaces, to cut car use in and help developers. This Policy is wrong because 80% consulted rejected it. It ignores covid, disabled, infants & an ageing population. Instead of using cars, all now expected to walk, cycle or bus. It encourages cramming & roadside congestion PLUS growing house demolition when the Royal Institute of British Architects prefers refurbishment on green grounds. BCP’s “town centre” zones stretch way beyond actual centres increasing development opportunities.

This policy gives a bulldozing “green” light for developers who now can demolish houses and shoehorn in more flats and profits. Already helped Maximillian de Kment's Lovett & European Emerging Markets gain planning permission to knock down 96 Lowther Rd Charminster (2k from town centre) after failing 3 times since 2008 and 57 objections! Dangerous precedent: they are now applying for permission to level 98 Lowther Rd too and adding £150,000 to price with this permission doubling typical street density & halving gardens. 9 flats and no parking plans by destroying our Edwardian heritage 4/5 bed family homes and turning the street into a building site when our town needs and plans new family homes.

PLEASE JOIN THIS PETITION TO STOP NO-PARKING SPACES & INVITE FRIENDS

Put Democracy, Conservation & Heritage before demolition & profiteering cramming. Support Councillors who listen to constituents and consultations, not people pretending this is green and Charminster, Eastcliff & Springbourne are town centre, to suit developers.

Object to planning permission for demolition of 98 Lowther Rd on planning.bournemouth.gov.uk/plandisp.aspx?recno=104042

A greener solution is turning empty shops into town centre homes instead of this unnecessary, unneeded and unwanted Policy of demolition, disruption & construction with a huge carbon footprint. Contact ianlawrence3333@gmail.com
