BCC Improper Expansion of "Sports Courts"

BCC Improper Expansion of "Sports Courts"
Why this petition matters
Many of us play pickleball, it's a great sport. Our concern is the high-pitched, repetitive noise that pickleball creates. The proposed location is very close to our homes. Imagine having to hear the pop, pop, pop sound of the pickleball, 14 hours a day all week long. All Saturday and all Sunday.
re: Birmingham Country Club (“BCC”), 1750 Saxon Drive (parcel ID 19-35-376-001) request for Special Land Use Amendment and Site Plan Review through expansion of non-conforming use (“BCC Request to Expand Nonconforming Use”)
We, the undersigned, set forth our opposition to the BCC request to amend the special land use approval; to grant additional variances of existing non-confirming uses; and to approve the proposed site plan.
BCC’s proposed expansion is not based on any practical difficulty; compliance with the Township ordinances would not be unduly burdensome; allowing expansion of non-conforming uses would work an injustice on the neighbors; there are no unique circumstances; and the need for variances are entirely self-created.
Moreover, Bloomfield Township should not even consider BCC’s request to expand a non-conforming use until the all of the relevant information is available. This includes a meeting with the neighbors; a parking study; a traffic study; a storm water management plan; and a binding plan of operation regarding the use of the party hut, proposed party zone, alcohol, BCC staff supervision, limited hours of operation, noise of pickleball game play, decorum of the participants, and loudspeakers and music.
In this petition, we are asking to deny the Birmingham Country Club any additional special variances, and let them choose a location on their property that conforms to regulations.
