Cody Reber started this petition to BC Utilities Comission and

ICBC is the well known BC dumpster fire that is the public monopoly of insurance in British Columbia. The executives gave themselves a raise and additional bonuses despite losing nearly a billion dollars, while also providing substandard insurance with almost no incident investigations. They also continually to try to solve their financial problems by charging people more instead of adopting standard insurance practices that every private corporation does. ICBC also put out ads stating that it would be like the US healthcare system and cost more if private insurance took over. This is simply not true as proven in other provinces, it's a fear tactic used by the Utilities Comission and ICBC executives to maintain their positions and their publicly funded wealth. We want to be done with the monopoly and allow Private insurance to compete with ICBC and keep them in check by providing actual service with reasonable rates. Without competition, ICBC has no reason to provide better if any actual service and can charge as much as they want, provided the utilities commission allows. The problem is that both are in eachothers pockets and we suffer from this conflict of interest. We want a proper insurance system, one which actually investigates incidents and doesnt overcharge families and individuals already struggling to make ends meet during this housing crisis. If you want your insurance rates to decrease significantly, sign this petition and protest ICBC and the Utilities Comission.
