The risk of not finding parking or getting blocked in has deterred many people from riding their horses in Golden Ears - including me.
We did have a great meeting with Parks yesterday and they will install signs in the Main Corral to indicate 4-5 horse trailer parking spots, which they will attempt to enforce with warning tickets. Once camping season starts there will be a new horse trailer parking spot on the road to group camps, just past Gold Creek parking lot.
I rode in Golden Ears Park for many years. Horse trailer parking is crucial, and needs their to be a dedicated lot specifically for trailers. Cars should be ticketed
It was created for horsetrailers, and there is no good , fair reason to let it be used for car parking. Car owners have many other locations at their disposal.
As a member of the Back Country Horsemen of Utah, USA we understand this problem all to well. Many times it is poor planning of parking areas in the first place. Any access for private stock should ALWAYS provide adequate Horse Trailer Parking ONLY areas!!! I hope this petition gets some improvements for all Private Stock Trail Users and Back Country Horsemen!
The horse trailer parking lot was made for horses and riders to safely prepare to enjoy the park..The park has been used by many riders and some come from far distances..The vehicles and trailers require lots of room and horses are unpredictable so the parking lot made for them should remain for them..People traffic should park else where..Sorry we need to keep our horses and riders safe..They can't just go and park on the busy roads ..
